Technology that helps people find common ground.

Common Axis is a nonprofit building privacy-first tools that make communication and community support easier to understand, find, and share.

Practical technology. Shared purpose.

We build for understanding, access, and connection.

Who we are

Common Axis, Inc. is the nonprofit home of Shared Language and KindLocator.org. We develop practical technology for people and the organizations that support them.

Why we exist

Our mission is to reduce the distance between a person and the words, resources, or relationships they need. Privacy, accessibility, and clarity are part of that work from the start.

Two tools. One shared purpose.

One makes information easier to understand. The other makes local support easier to find.

Shared Language

Understand the behavior before judging the person.

A practical vocabulary for turning workplace and community misunderstandings into better questions.

Why
Behavior is often interpreted before it is understood. Shared Language gives people neutral words and useful questions for discussing what they notice without turning a difference into a judgment or diagnosis.
Who
HR teams, managers, workplace leaders, professionals, educators, public servants, community organizations, advocates, and teams working across roles or areas of expertise.
Privacy
No account or profile is required for the current tools. AI-assisted text is used to produce a response and is not kept by Shared Language afterward. People are asked not to enter names or identifying details.
Visit Shared Language

KindLocator.org

Find help. South Florida.

A community resource finder for discovering nearby services, support, and opportunities to help.

Why
Finding the right help can be difficult. KindLocator.org makes local resources and ways to contribute easier to discover.
Who
Individuals, families, community navigators, and organizations looking to find or share local support.
Privacy
No account is required. Saved resources, language, and accessibility preferences stay in the visitor’s browser. Location is optional and is not saved by KindLocator; searches should not include confidential case details.
Visit KindLocator.org

One nonprofit home for two practical responses.

Common Axis was formed to give Shared Language and KindLocator.org a stable nonprofit home. The tools address different problems, but both respond to a familiar situation: people are expected to make important decisions without clear language or clear directions.

Shared Language helps people describe behavior, question assumptions, and communicate across different roles. KindLocator.org helps people find community resources without making an already difficult moment harder to navigate.

Under Common Axis, the tools can share standards for privacy, accessibility, transparency, and community partnership. We are still building the organization. As leadership, advisors, and partners take formal roles, we will add their names, biographies, and progress updates here.

How we intend to earn trust.

Start with people

A useful tool begins with the people who will rely on it. We listen, test our assumptions, and account for different abilities, languages, and lived experiences.

Collect less

We do not ask for information simply because technology can collect it. Each feature should work with the least personal data possible, and anything retained must have a clear purpose.

Build with partners

Community organizations and professionals understand the gaps our tools are meant to address. Their knowledge helps us decide what to build, test whether it works, and correct what we miss.

Show the work

We explain how a tool works, what information it uses, its current limits, and what is still being developed. When something changes, we say so plainly.

Trust needs evidence, not slogans.

We explain what our tools do, what they collect, what they do not collect, and what is still in development.

Read our privacy approach
  • Collect the minimum information a feature needs.
  • Never sell personal information.
  • Write policies in plain language and make them easy to find.
  • Be honest about product status, limitations, and what we are learning.
  • Publish meaningful changes to our practices and products.

Help build technology communities can trust.

We welcome conversations with community organizations, nonprofits, funders, civic leaders, accessibility advocates, researchers, and responsible technology partners.
