Privacy

The short version

No Common Axis website requires an account, uses advertising cookies, runs behavioral analytics, or sells personal information. We collect the least we can, explain the rest, and put every change to how a site handles information through a written review before it ships.

On this website, the only thing that sends your information anywhere is the contact form. Donation checkout, once connected, is hosted by Stripe rather than collected here.

This policy applies to commonaxis.org. Our products publish their own notices, linked below, which govern those sites.

Our commitments, on every site

These apply to commonaxis.org, sharedlanguage.org, and kindlocator.org:

• No accounts. Our tools work without signing up.
• No tracking. No analytics scripts, advertising pixels, session recording, social media embeds, or third-party cookies.
• Self-hosted assets. Fonts, images, and map tiles load from our own sites, not from Google, a mapping company, or a content delivery network that sees who you are.
• Your browser holds your preferences. Language, accessibility settings, and saved items stay in your browser's storage and never reach us.
• AI tools do not keep your text. Where a site sends what you type to an AI provider to produce an answer, we attach no name, account, or identifier, and our own systems do not log or cache your text. The provider's own retention is described in each product's notice.
• We write from an inventory. Each site keeps a written record of every place information travels. Its privacy notice is written from that record and checked against the code.

Product privacy notices

Each product explains its own tools in detail — what is sent where, and what is not:

• Shared Language: sharedlanguage.org/privacy — the Behavior Translator, read-aloud, and contact form.
• KindLocator: kindlocator.org/privacy — search, the map, saved resources, corrections, and events. Available in English, Spanish, and Haitian Creole.

If those pages and this one ever differ about a product, the product's own notice governs.

What the commonaxis.org website processes

Hosting. This site is hosted by Netlify. Like any host, Netlify processes standard request data to deliver and protect the site: IP address, browser type, requested page, referral address, and time. Common Axis does not use this to identify or track anyone; Netlify's retention follows its own policies.

Contact form. When you write to us, we receive your name, email address, optional organization, selected topic, and message. Netlify Forms, our host, stores the submission so we can respond; the stored record includes your IP address as metadata. Netlify screens submissions for spam using Akismet, a service run by Automattic, which sees the submission for that purpose.

Please do not send passwords, Social Security numbers, medical records, case files, immigration documents, or other highly sensitive information through the form or by email.

Donations. Card details are never entered on our pages. When donation processing is enabled, the donate button opens Stripe's hosted checkout, and Stripe's privacy practices apply to that step. This page will be updated when that goes live.

When you contact us

If you use the contact form or email info@commonaxis.org, we use the information to read, route, and respond to your request. We may share a message inside Common Axis when another person is better placed to respond.

Retention and sharing

We keep correspondence as long as reasonably needed for the conversation, organizational records, or legal obligations. Contact-form submissions stay in our host's dashboard until we delete them.

We do not sell personal information. We may disclose information when required by law or when needed to protect the security and rights of the organization or others.

Security

Our sites are built to limit exposure: no account systems, no embedded social feeds, no advertising technology, no third-party font or map requests, no card fields on our pages, and restrictive browser security rules where the host supports them.

No products or services can be guaranteed completely secure. To report a security concern about any Common Axis products or services, use the contact form or email security@commonaxis.org. Name the product or service and describe what you observed. Please do not include active exploit code, credentials, or sensitive third-party data in an initial message.

Changes to this page

If this website adds analytics, changes its form, enables donation processing, or uses another service that changes how information is handled, this page is updated before or when the change goes live, and the effective date changes. Product notices are updated on the same rule by each product.
